Design and Looks
The style of the DS 440 is nothing much to go by but suffice to say its design is both ergonomic and functional. It sports a sleek metallic finish which adds a touch of class to this elegant yet basic handset. The phone, despite sporting compact dimensions features a nice large 2.4” 262K colours QVGA screen- a hallmark of a good multimedia set. Below the screen is an ergonomic D-pad controls set and keypad. In the case of the keypad each key is separated from every other key which boosts tactility.
The phone's characteristic feature is that it is dual SIM. There are separate communications details for both SIMs so there can be no chance of mix ups. The phone's camera is a 2MP unit. Videos on the phone can be watched on TV directly from the phone because of the TV out port. Naturally, it follows that the phone's native video player is advanced so there are a lot of functions that it's capable of such as fast forward and rewind.
Other media features include mp3 player and FM radio. The FM radio has an interesting option that lets users record radio broadcasts off the air. The sound quality for all media applications is excellent whether from the loudspeaker or from the headset. Telephony is also good and there were almost no instances of dropped calls. Vibration and ringing volumes are generally strong and loud so chances of missing incoming events are pretty slim.
Overall the phone is great because it marries dual SIM functionality with exciting features that were hitherto the specialty of single SIM phones. With phones such as this, the Fly DS 440 and several other Fly models, users don't have to sacrifice anything for the option of two SIMs.
